About Me

I’m an information designer and programmer living in Washington D.C., but originally from Detroit. I work at the Center for American Progress—mere blocks from the White House—where I am the Interactive Media Designer. I do charts and interactive graphics and, occasionally, whole websites there. (See my work page for more.)

I have an unhealthy addiction to the internet, but in those rare moments I’m not in front of a computer, I’m usually reading or out biking. I’m very much into indie music.

I really want a dog.

So what’s all this?

This site is a work in progress, wherein I play around with ideas and concepts I’m kicking around.

Journal is a lightly edited collection of commentary, mostly about design but occasionally about other things I care about.

Work is an incomplete collection of my design work. Depending on where it came from and what it was, it may be hosted here or it may link to another site.

Gadgets are the occasional fruits of my labor that turned into generally useful tools. If you do work on the web, check it out—you may find something to help you with your next project.

Experiments is where I house random, usually small, design or coding projects I’m working on for my own amusement. Clearly, I am very easily amused.

Blog is a collection of my shamelessly unedited stream-of-consciousness rambles. In other words, it’s stuff that didn’t make the cut for the Journal—but some of it might, some day.
